Mira Resnick

Deputy Assistant Secretary for Israeli and Palestinian Affairs (2024-2025)

Current: Senior Director for Global Policy and Defense Cooperation, Saronic Technologies

Prior to accepting this post in August 2024, Resnick was deputy assistant secretary for the State Department’s Political-Military Affairs bureau, which approved tens of billions of dollars’ worth of weapons shipments to Israel. This continued after human-rights groups had raised concerns about Israel’s human-rights violations, potentially flouting the Leahy Amendment.

In her role as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Israeli and Palestinian Affairs, Resnick worked with the Israeli government to allow private citizens to donate equipment such as body armor to the Israeli military.

After being presented with evidence from USAID that Israel was blocking aid to Gaza, Resnick remained resolute in transferring weapons funding to Israel. According to ProPublica, Resnick insisted that “we need to be able to move” $827 million in weapons funding for Israel that had been temporarily frozen, pending State Department approval. The funds were soon approved.
