Antony Blinken

Secretary of State (2021-2025)

Current: Board member, Center for American Progress

As Biden’s Secretary of State, Blinken was one of the highest-ranking enablers of the genocide. In spring of 2024, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) presented Blinken with a 17-page assessment concluding that Israel had intentionally blocked deliveries of food and medicine to Gaza. According to U.S. law, this knowledge would have required the U.S. to stop weapons shipments to Israel. The memo also noted that Israel had killed aid workers, demolished agricultural structures, bombed hospitals and ambulances, and stockpiled the food it had refused to bring into Gaza. USAID added that this was “one of the worst human catastrophes in the world.”

Yet, Blinken delivered a message to Congress on May 10, 2024 denying that Israel was blocking aid to Palestinians in Gaza, a claim contradicted by his own State Department assessment. “We do not currently assess that the Israeli government is prohibiting or otherwise restricting the transport or delivery of U.S. humanitarian assistance,” he told lawmakers.

Throughout his tenure as Secretary of State under the Biden presidency, Antony Blinken lied about U.S. attempts to broker a ceasefire. His State Department defended ambassador Jack Lew (also on this list) as having made “diplomatic efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement that would secure the release of hostages, alleviate the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza, and bring an end to the conflict.”

Additionally, during media appearances, Blinken cited Hamas as the chief impediment to ceasefire talks, and played a key role propagating the idea the U.S. and Israel were the only good faith parties. In reality, Hamas had broadly accepted Biden’s ceasefire proposal, which was endorsed by the UN Security Council. The leading hindrance was Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who routinely sought to sabotage ceasefire negotiations––a fact since confirmed by Israeli media and US officials.
